I can’t take it anymore. WordPress is driving me bananas!!! It really shouldn’t take me 3 hours to figure out how to stick a picture on my side bar. I mean, I’m not a genius, but I’m not a complete doofus.

SO
I don’t know why I didn’t sign up for Blogspot when I started this whole blog thing. So check this out, here’s Janelle’s blog, take 2.

Leroy and I were away for a 4 day weekend getaway to Savannah, Georgia this past weekend. So I didn’t get a chance to take pictures of my Christmas present. Leroy was the best husband ever and got me this awesome adjustable dressform. I’m so excited. Not that I’m trying to get on the next season of Project Runway or anything like that, but I am excited about the thought of making my own formal dress. I guess we’ll just have to see how well I do.

Thanks Babe. I love it!!!!

More backlog:
…am I off to a good start?
Aunt Peggy (Leroy’s great aunt) moved from New York to Georgia to be close to family. She had been going to a nearby Senior Center and taking art classes. She has painted some really great pictures. When I pick up one she painted for us, I’ll be sure to share a picture of it. She mentioned she needed an apron with a pocket for her paining classes. In the same conversation, I mentioned a Starbucks apron Leroy has from his Barista days. She asked if she could have one of those. I told her I would do her one better and make her one. So I had some left over fabric from a messenger bag I made for my friend Travis (which I’ll share with you later if Travis is able to take a pic of it for me). It was actually drapery fabric, so it was heavy duty like corduroy. She wanted it to be heavy duty and to have a pocket for her towel.
Anyway, here is the apron I made for Aunt Peggy. Hope you like it

Dad celebrated his birthday on December 27th and today is Mommy’s birthday.
Here is a cute shot of Dad, Nana Monica (aunty) and Mommy bringing the hits as they sing karaoke at Christmas.

Here is another cute one of Mommy and Ms. Rita (family friend)…A.K.A. Miss DIVA!!!

Mommy and Daddy, you guys have raised an amazing son. I am so blessed to be married into your family. I love this family, and I thank you for loving me the way you do.
Going back some more…Braylon (nephew) turned 3 on December 24th. Love this boy to bits!!! How cute is he?!?!

I’ll probably do more belated birthday postings tomorrow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAYLON, DADDY AND MOMMY

My last post mentioned that I have a few pending posts. This would be one of them. My papa (Dad) celebrated his birthday on December 12th. Here’s a handsome shot of him:
I make him an apron. I made it reversible. One side is what you see below. I failed to take a picture of the other side, but it’s plain brown with pockets made from the striped fabric. I picked the fabric to match his BBQ area. Hopefully i can convince him or my mama to take a cool picture of him in it so i can post it…hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge…
Happy Birthday Papa…love you. (Happy belated posting)
Missing you heaps.

for the past 3 years, i’ve tried to make new years resolutions that i can actually keep. three years ago, it was making cards for people’s birthdays. so that also meant trying to remember birthdays which was two years ago…this was kinda hard. especially when you have about 250 dates to remember (and growing!!!) last year, it was flossing every day. i would guess i probably skipped 3 or 4 days a month, so that’s pretty good considering i was never really a flosser. turns out that my teeth are in pretty good condition…so says my new dentist. if you live in atlanta, you HAVE to switch to atlanta dental spa. dr. susan estep is the best and their office is fabulous. it’s like none other. i really don’t know why all doctors can’t be like this place. anyway, i digress.
so this year, my one resolution will encompass different parts of my life. i resolve to have a firm handle on my calendar/schedule. so i’m hoping to accomplish 3 things with this resolution:
first: be able to get to bed each night so that i can wake up and spend some quiet time with my Creator.
second: know when people’s birthdays and anniversaries are coming up so that i can at the VERY least send them an e-card
third: find enough time to be consistent with my blog.
so no more “happy birthday” postings for birthdays that occurred 3 months prior. i guess you can all keep me to this resolution. i give you full permission to call me out via comments when i’m not doing so well.
as you can see. i have updated the look of my blog. a new look for a new year. i’ve also decided that i don’t have to post pictures in order to blog. although that would be ideal.
i have 2 blogs that i have not posted. one being about my papa’s birthday (12/12/08, sorry i’m late with the posting, papa) and the second on christmas.
so for now…i will wish you happy new year. may it be fruitful, intentional and creative.

i received an awesome package from loraine on monday. she got me in the sassy apron swap. my care package came from across the seas (south africa). so i greatly appreciate her for being willing to ship an international package.
she did a fantastic job of putting fun stuff in the package for me and for picking fun fabric. she did a phenomenal job of the embroidery. so much so that leroy said “babe, you need a machine that does this.” he was surprise and completely impressed when i explained it was all hand done.
so thank you thank you thank you loraine, i love it!

p.s. i will post about the christmas tree behind me later this week
it’s another “first”
p.p.s. sorry for the crappy picture of me, i just got home from work.

i finished my apron for my apron swapp, shipped it out, and waited until charlene got it. but UGH!!!! I must have accidentally deleted some of the pictures i took. so unfortunately, you have to deal with these blurry pics. sorry. hopefully charlene will be able to take a picture of her in it and i can post it later.

although the pictures don’t do this apron justice, i must say, i am happy with this project. it has been the most challenging pattern so far. amy helped me pick out the fabric, and of course, this is her vintage pattern.

sorry that bob looks a little weird, i stuffed him a little…bob needs boobies
did i mention i want a dress form for christmas?
charlene, i hope this fits you well and i’m glad you like the fabric

my tita (aunty) vivian celebrated a birthday on november 20th, and i made her two aprons as seen below.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TITA! LOVE YOU!
this is the apron before i put pockets on it (last minute add). i wasn’t going to add pockets, well, to be honest, because they bother me. not the pockets…sewing them on. i don’t know why. but due to peer pressure i added two, i won’t call her out…she knows who she is
i forgot to take pictures of the apron with the pockets. the fabric i used for the waistband and ties is the same fabric i used for the pockets which are square (simple is good).

here is the other one. this is a vintage pattern that I borrowed from amy.

this apron doesn’t fit on bob very well. i sure hope santa reads my post…i hope i’ve been a good girl this year, because a dress form would be a GREAT present for christmas
