samut-samot – filipino: a variety; hodge-podge; miscellaneous; random things
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
if you spend enough time looking around at the other blogs and website listed in my blogroll, “sweet stuff”, you’ll see that it really is random. and like mine, my husband’s blog is just as random if not more. i have blogs ranging from knitting to philosophy and from organization to cooking.
if you know anything about the character, monica from friends (one of my all time favorite sitcoms), then you know how quirky i tend to act (you can thank my parents for my “everything has its place, so put it in its place” mindset). i don’t have anything that i explicitly consider a passion and don’t have many “absolute favorites”. actually, i think i only have two that i can think of at the top of my head. that would be a favorite color (pink) and a favorite cuisine (filipino). but i do enjoy a variety of things such as knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. but don’t get it twisted, i still have cool points with non-crafty people because i heart x-box. more specificially, i heart halo and rainbox 6. now i still enjoy the girly games, but i am really into third person shooters. as far as guitar hero/rock band…watch out, i’m pretty decent considering i do not own the game. but to be honest, the thing i enjoy most is hanging out with those i love. good company, good food and good fun equals a recipes to an all-time perfect night.
i don’t have a favorite movie, but the following movies i would consider to fall somewhere in my top 10 are boondock saints, hitch, the score, pirates of the caribbean, and unleashed. if there were such a thing of janelle’s top 20, these would be in it: monsters inc, romeo must die, amelie, oceans 11, the sound of music, and 50 first dates. i also enjoy playing games. my favorites are phase 10 mexican train, settlers of catan, humm…ble, and cranium.
what’s obvious is that i am filipino-american. but what’s not so obvious is that i was born in australia, and moved to the states when i was 13. my parents and sister (with her husband and three kids) are back in australia along with my mum’s side of the family. most of my papa’s side of the family are scattered across the united states. a majority of leroy’s immediate family (meaning first uncles, aunts & cousins) are here in atlanta.
so that’s pretty much a little about me. one of the main reasons why i created this blog was to invite my family (and friends) across the world into my daily world. while i may not be as creatively talented as amy or martha, and i probably won’t post stuff as thought-provoking and intelligent as leroy or doug; i will at least try to make it interesting.
thanks for stopping by…
